VENICE – The City of Venice has begun the process of getting a new fire station built.
Architects being interviewed will have to create a station that includes a two-story, three-bay station with storage space, a lounge, sleeping quarters, a kitchen, and a conference room that would be open for public meetings.
The current station, next to Venice City Hall, is 45 years old, and has age-related issues like a leaky roof and mold.
The proposed new station would be hurricane-ready and allow first-responders to remain in place through most storms. It also would be built in conjunction with changes at City Hall.
